Retained 214 active members, 33 allied members and 30 associate members (TOTAL 277)
Initiated a legal service member benefit with Slaten O’Connor to review member service contracts
Initiated a legal contract with Slaten O’Connor to review the state’s structural pest control regulations and statutes
Maintained strong presence with state legislators, the N.C. Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Alliance. Provided support for the development of the Schoolchildren’s Health Act of 2006.
Initiated the North Carolina Pest Control Education Foundation with funding in excess of $100,000 for use in providing college scholarships to member families.
On-going support provided to NC State for the development of a Structural Pest Control Training Facility which opened this year. Received general membership approval to provide permanent loan of 30 classroom microscopes for use in the facility. Continuing to work on funding for facility supplies and naming rights.
Awarded $1,500 scholarships to both an N.C. State graduate and undergraduate student.
Recognized first two winners of the new Technician of The Year Award
Sponsored Dave Rogers’ Big Bug Display at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Gastonia
Conducted eight Membership Meetings across the state for members and prospects
Conducted six Regional Education Workshops throughout the state.
Conducted the annual Fall Leadership Retreat to discuss how to better serve the membership
Initiated a new Spring Leadership Retreat for training of newly elected NCPCA leadership
Initiated the development of a business seminar for member pest control operators called United We Stand, United We Grow to be held for the first time in November 2006
The Wood-Destroying Insect Accreditation Program has just under 325 accredited inspectors who have successful passed course requirements. The program is currently working with the NC Association of Realtors to market the accreditation.
Worked with the NC Department of Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler on the restructuring of the Structural Pest Control Division leadership.
Authored a resolution condemning acts of endangerment directed at Structural Pest Control Division employees
Sponsored a farewell luncheon at the RBC Center in Raleigh recognizing the contributions of retiring Structural Pest Control Division director Carl Falco
Authored a position statement on IPM for use in statewide literature supporting integrated pest management in NC schools.
Authored the Basic Principles of the Code of Ethics to be used as an ethical guide by NC pest control operators
Developed, distributed and compiled a membership survey on service needs.
Published an annual membership directory
Published six issues of the Tar Heel Pest Management News including a new feature, “Meet your Regional Vice President”
Maintained and upgraded our association Web site - www.ncpca.org
Conducted our fifth Mid-Atlantic Conference with NPMA and four other states
Planned the 56 th Annual Pest Control Technicians’ School, in cooperation with the North Carolina State University Department of Entomology. Executed the largest School to date with 651 general session attendees, 143 certification training attendees and 36 exhibiting companies.
Conducted fourth Ant Biology and Management Workshop
Developed an ongoing relationship with Hilton and Sheraton hotel chains, allowing members to get discounted room rates
Maintained a Bronze-level sponsorship with the Special Olympics of North Carolina
